Ursula Rucker “Takeover” at the Barnes
Germantown poet Ursula Rucker TAKES OVER the Barnes
In honor of Berthe Morisot: Woman Impressionist, we have invited Philadelphia poetry powerhouse Ursula Rucker to create a performance in response to the Barnes collection. Her performance is the first in a series of Takeovers asking local artists to interpret the collection in any way they choose. Join us for this new take on the collection and then head into the galleries to see if the experience has changed your understanding of the artwork.
Rucker’s vision for the evening is inspired by the metalworks hanging throughout the galleries, on both floors and in every room—“ever-present and profound like black love,” she says. “Love brings family so come prepared for an a powerful gathering complete with live word, rhythm, music, sound, story, song, and imagery. In short, an evening of magic and mind/heart traveling and dope-ass live art-sharing.”
Featuring:
