Neighboring Community Arts Salon: Signs of Spring

March 10, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
$20

With this series, we present a variety of art forms from the talented residents of our neighboring communities.

The Winter Arts Salon will feature performances by the poet, Yolanda Wisher, pianist and vocalist, V. Shayne Frederick, and vocalist, Kristin Renee Young.

Yolanda Wisher is a Philadelphia-based poet, singer, educator and curator. She is the author of Monk Eats an Afro (Hanging Loose Press, 2014) and the co-editor of Peace is a Haiku Song (Philadelphia Mural Arts, 2013). Wisher was named the inaugural Poet Laureate of Montgomery County, PA in 1999 and the third Poet Laureate of Philadelphia in 2016. “Wisher’s poems are musical, playful, and brutal, and she infuses spoken language with blues-informed cadence to engage themes of intimacy, power, and identity.” ~The Poetry Foundation

V. Shayne Frederick is a pianist, vocalist, arranger and musical director with over a decade of stunning performance. Cited by the Broad Street Review as “one of the region’s busiest and best jazz singers,” and by All About Jazz as “one to watch” and a “shining light,” V. Shayne’s singular voice, with its dulcet texture and substantial range, has a classic appeal with an innovative flair.

Kristin Renee Young is a versatile vocal artist lauded for her “effervescent” and “terrific” performances (Boston Arts Fuse). According to The Boston Musical Intelligencer, Young “has a voice to conjure with” and is “a true artist.”
