Koehler entitled Wylde Rose. Jeremy John Kaplan’s Advance The Runner presents an interactive installation in the project room. Carole Loeffler will start up the new ReDRooM just like she did on the previous location five years ago. Opening reception Sat.13 May 2017 at 5539 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19144 from 6 – 9pm.
The gallery will be open to the public for a preview that same day from noon to 5pm to coincide with the Germantown Second Saturday Festival.
In the main space, Michael M. Koehler ‘Wylde Rose’:
“Growing up in Germantown, I learned to search for the Wylde Roses. Wylde is my son’s middle name and Rose is my daughter’s middle name. These pictures were made on the edge – the place where colliding elements meet and interact. The Wylde Rose is the beauty that keeps us going beyond what we think we’re capable of. It is the imagination coming to life in front of your eyes, the interaction between our inner landscape and outer, the place where dreams come true, the place we find when we go beyond.” michaelmkoehler.com thewyldelife.com
In the project space, Jeremy John Kaplan ‘Advance the Runner’:
“Growing up in Roxborough, I idolized artists and athletes. Exposure to art offered escape, and opportunity to experience power and resonance of individuality. Participating in team competition gave access to an inclusive community identity through triumph and defeat. These arenas have equally allowed for fulfillment of pursuit, and a lineage of shared experience of generational significance. With the installation ‘Advance The Runner’ I seek to unravel associations and weighted relationships with our enduring memories. The baseballs and softballs are shown in consociation as data visualization of gender population statistics. Arranged and placed in suspension, inviting the viewer to interact and create their own experience.” jeremyjohnkaplan.com notanyc.com
In the ReDRooM, Carole Loeffler ‘root’:
The word “root” is about the root chakra, the energy center in our bodies that connect us to the earth. The sound element is an abstract sound work that utilizes the tonal sound that connects with our root chakra. The piece is about resting, healing and reconnecting with the earth. Coincidentally, the color associated with the root chakra is red! caroleloeffler.com
