Imperfect Gallery Opening:Gerry Givnish “Recent Watercolors”
GERRY GIVNISH,”Recent Watercolors”- APRIL 30 – MAY 21, 2016
iMPeRFeCT Gallery is honored to announce its next exhibit, “Recent Watercolors” by Gerry Givnish, a lifelong Philadelphian now residing in Germantown. His watercolor paintings embrace the beauty of transparent color on white paper. He is drawn to paint things he loves: the beach, baseball, the Wissahickon Creek. Opening Reception Sat, April 30, 6 – 9pm.
Gerry went to the PA Academy of Fine Arts. He and a group from the Academy started a co-op gallery on South Street called the Painted Bride in 1969. Gerry was director of the Bride till 1999 during the move and expansion to its current home.
The works in this exhibit were painted mostly from 2010 to the present. When painting from nature, he works directly to capture the excitement and pleasure from just looking, and relies on the inspiration of the moment.
We hope you take advantage of this opportunity enjoy this less public aspect of Gerry that not too many know about, he’s a true Philadelphia treasure.
