Monnette Sudler’s 9th Annual Guitar Summit
“This year the Guitar Summit is “Strumming for Social Change”. The guitar has often been an instrument of change for those advocating for peace and civil rights. This concert will bring traditional, bluesy, free and funky Jazz to the World Cafe Live and will be an opportunity to remind us to use our instruments and voices for change.”

Monnette Sudler Grammy nominated Germantown resident, jazz guitarist, composer, vocalist and recording artist is known in United States and internationally. She has performed with many jazz greats, such as Hugh Masakela, Khan Jamal and the Sounds of Liberation, Sunny Murray’s Untouchable Factor, Sam Rivers Big Band with bassist Dave Holland, percussionist, Warren Smith, and Philly Joe Jones big band Dameronia with special guest the late Grover Washington Jr., Byard Lancaster, Odean Pope, Kenny Baron, Steve Turre, Frank Lacey, and bassist Reggie Workman. She has recorded with poets Sonia Sanchez and Pew fellow Trapeta B. Mayson. Monnette is the recipient of awards and grants from Leeway Foundation, Philadelphia Chapter of the Composers Forum and the Kimmel Center Jazz Residency. Monnette Sudler has received the Clef Club Jazz Award for Guitar 2012 & 2013; the Media Jazz Festival Award 2014 presented by the Mayor of Media.
