Carol Cole’s studio is at the Hermann St Studios. Her one woman show is opening in neaby Manayunk.

“Words Illustrated” Abstract depictions of topical words and phrases.

“Carol Cole, artist and environmentalist, creates her abstracted sculptures from found objects, handmade paper pulp and paint. She is attracted to the pure form of the piece and not the functionality. With Words Illustrated, Carol’s process was reversed. Instead of beginning with manipulating the objects into a design with meaning and title developing as she proceeded, Carol started with meaning in the form of language. Definitive words that were becoming part of the zeitgeist on televisions and in conversation due to their insatiable repetition entered her “view”. Extrapolating those cerebral concepts into concrete representations embodies this exhibition. Words like freedom, unity, coexist and confusion play before our eyes suddenly made tangible, accessible and thought provoking.” (The Bazemore Gallery)
