Imperfect Gallery opening: Documenting Place & Self by Soto & “Bower” by G. Michaels

| Two 3-channel video installations by Merian Soto will be on view in the main exhibit area of the iMPeRFeCT Gallery from November 7-28. Titled “Documenting Place & Self: Videos 2014-15,” it’s a collection of some of Soto’s self-documented performance practice in Philadelphia’s Wissahickon Valley Park, and in Bogliasco, Italy where she was a Residential Fellow at the Liguria Study Center in Fall 2014.Choreographer and video artist Merián Soto is a 2015 Pew Fellow in the Arts, and Professor of Dance at the Esther Boyer College of Music & Dance at Temple University.Running concurrently in the gallery’s ReDRooM will be “Bower: Nature Prints by Gina Michaels.” This collection of nature print monotypes uses plants and leaves from Michaels’ garden as stencils and graphic elements. Bower covers the walls, floor to ceiling, with 40 prints. Michael’s vibrant color combinations and dynamic compositions create a secluded, but energized environment.
These exhibits run from November 7-28, 2015 with an opening reception on Saturday, November 7, from 6 – 9pm. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Saturday, 1-6 pm.
