PROMETHEUS musicians are classically trained at the highest level\, having studied at major conservatories and universities such as the Curtis Institute\, San Francisco Conservatory\, Indiana University\, the Hartt School of Music\, and Temple University. SUMMARY:Musicians Gathering #31 at Rittenhouse Soundworks
DESCRIPTION:Musicians Gathering\n#31 \nSunday September 16\, 2018 \n7pm \nTickets $10 at the door Free Parking at the lot next door \nEmmett Drueding is a Singer Songwriter out of Philadelphia who dabbles in a variety of genres but has been described as “neo-folk indie rock.” With a heavy influence from finger style guitarists such as John Fahey and John Renbourne\, Drueding also is reminiscent of songwriting heroes Elliott Smith\, The Beatles\, Dave Van Ronk and a slew of classic country artists. Drueding will be accompanied by his band of Rob Sanders on violin\, Ray Bailey on double bass\, and Miles Ziskind on drums. \nSweetbriar Rose The Americana-tinged folk-noir band is a band of rootsy\, thorny\, rose-hipped gypsies who you’re equally likely to glimpse running in full sun\, barefoot on a field of bluegrass\, brooding in three-part harmony over a murder ballad in a shady grove\, or channeling the spirit of a 1940’s Balkan jazz joint. If you heard them through the wall\, you might imagine a stray melody from the carnival caravan was whirling and beckoning just on the other side of the darkened woods. The band is led by award-winning songwriter and singer Heather Shayne Blakeslee\, and they been featured at regional venues and festivals such as World Cafe Live\, the Philadelphia Folk Festival\, the Brandywine Folk Festival\, Bethlehem’s Musikfest and at the New Jersey Folk Festival. The band’s 2013 debut album “Cultivar” was called “impressive and spooky” by critic A.D. Amorosi of the Philadelphia City Paper and “a terrific CD” by the iconic Gene Shay\, retired host of WXPN’s The Folk Show. The Philadelphia Folk Song society counts Sweetbriar Rose among its\, “most exciting and boundary-pushing acts.” They are at work on their second record\, to be released in spring 2019. \nOff The Orchard With songs about apocalyptic visions\, love\, and the blues\, Off the Orchard plays rock music that is fresh and grand.\nhttp://offtheorchardmusic.com/ \nSvitanya is a women’s vocal ensemble specializing in the music of Eastern Europe. Its repertoire\, performed mostly a cappella\, is drawn from a variety of regional traditions. Some songs are modern arrangements of old folk tunes\, some are original compositions in the folk style\, and others are sung as they have been for generations. They range from strong and strident field-working songs to traditional dance tunes to lush and emotive arrangements\, all evoking the timbres\, rhythms\, and harmonies indigenous to the region. \nwww.svitanya.org\nhttps://www.facebook.com/vocalSvitanya/ \nOur mailing address is:\n257 West Rittenhouse St\nPhiladelphia\, Pa. 19144\nCopyright © *Rittenhouse Soundworks All rights reserved. \nOur mailing address is:\n257 West Rittenhouse St\nPhiladelphia\, Pa. 19144
